Welcome!
Welcome to Embrace Your Inner Superhero!
I will be taking you through how to help your children to embrace themselves for who they are, connect within, release stress, let go of negative emotions and feel empowered to be true to themselves.
Throughout this process, I will give you some different tools to teach your children about self care, gratitude, mindfulness and how to relieve the feeling of overwhelm and stress.
I feel like a lot of the time, we can underestimate just how much life is impacting our little people.
They can go through many different challenges and they may be holding on to negative thoughts and feelings that we may not even be aware of.
Think back to when you were a child, what challenging experiences did you have? Did you get stressed about school work? Were you bullied? Did you compare yourself to other children and not feel as worthy? Did you have a hard home life or school life? Maybe you had much bigger challenges thrown your way.
How did you handle them when you were a child? Did you tell your parents or grandparents everything or did you bottle it up? Did you act out because of your feelings or did you withdraw? The experience is different for every person and it’s our job as parents to give our little ones the tools to deal with these issues.
My hope for you is that through this process, you will also strengthen the connection that you have with your child. For me, as a mum, once I studied and implemented these practices in my own home, my son and I were able to take our bond to a whole new level. I have never felt so connected with him and it is so powerful to watch him utilize these techniques and even share them with his friends when he notices that they are struggling.
As a parent, we want what is best for our child and we want them to grow up to be healthy, happy, secure, connected, abundant adults. By giving our children these tools now, we are giving them the foundation to do just that.
In this program, we will go through different ways to connect with your child to ease tension, increase their self-confidence and sense of security, as well as mindfulness and why it is important for growing minds, especially when they are in school.
I will talk about the power of gratitude and give you some activities to incorporate into your daily routine.
My son's favourite part of the program is when they get to become their own superhero. This helps children to focus on their strengths instead of on parts of themselves they don’t like as much. We all have a superpower or two, we just have to find them and use them!
I will go through a useful breathing technique that your child can use if they are feeling stressed whether or not they are with you.
I will also talk you through a technique that kids can use to get rid of their "yucky feelings" – you can either get them to watch the video and follow along or memorize it yourself to use as you like – I use this one with people of all ages and it is super effective!
We will go through I AM statements and the power behind them. This is a powerful tool to implement daily with your children as well – do it together and support one another to be empowered! We will also go over the importance of self care and how to implement it from a young age. By doing this, we are setting our children up with healthy habits as well as healthy boundaries. It is so important to teach anyone at any age to properly care for and nourish themselves and it is a lesson they will have for life – I didn’t get this until a few years ago and I think my life would have been very different if I had grown up with these principles and a love for myself like I have now.
We end the program on our hopes and dreams mind map activity – this can be a magical activity to do together as a family. It helps your child to feel empowered about their own future and gives them some sense of control and excitement that they can have a say in what kind of life they want to create.
What you will need for this program
- Coloured pencils or crayons
- 2 blank scrap books or special notebooks for each child. One we will use as their gratitude practice and the other will be a journal for them to use to express their feelings and talk about their day. If you have an older child that can write well, feel free to get them lined books so they can write instead of draw if they wish
- Big piece/s of paper/card, some paint/texas/magazines to cut out/glue/glitter/whatever you feel you would like to create your hopes and dreams mind map with. You can either do one each or do a large combined one for the family
- An open mind and the willingness to step out of your comfort zone, you will be the role model through this process for your child and it will be an amazing experience of growth for you both
